Accommodation perfect - best ever! Marka and Sarah were great hosts and Sarah's little book was very helpful. The gorge walk is not to be missed, horse-riding at Sarnano, Lago di Pilato fantastic but strenuous, Lago di Fiastra - great swimming, pedal boats and canoes - good fun! Mamma Rosa pizzas are great.Saw a wild boar when horse-riding.

I love being in the countryside and seeing animals I do not see at home. Mark and Sarah have been really kind and baked me a birthday cake.

We did not know what to expect from Le Marche, we had thought it would be a lazy holiday because there was only the beautiful nature. We found out that there is so muh to see that we didn't have the time to see everything. Also The Hideaway was a really nice discovery. After a long travel with two young kids, it was great to reach a place where the welcome was warm, the accommodation 1st class and the views simply stunning. Sarah and Mark never stopped being helpful and accommodating and made sure there were toys for the kids both inside and out of our rooms - just of the great little touches during our stay. For a rural area, there is an amazing amount to see and do in such a relatively short radius, ranging from pool slides (Pedaso) to picturesque lakeside and mountain walks. What a lovely place, friendly hosts and great buns! We came back to Le Marchefor the walking and Mark has asked us to recommend our favourites - we discovered ridge walking here - amazing ridge walks and so many we'll have to come back agagin. You'll need the CAI map, a guide book (ie Cicerane), good boots, a compass and good weather.
- Monte Sibilla from Rifugio Sibilla (don't be put off by the rock climb. It is short & easily do-able).
- Monte Priora & Tre Vescari from Rifugio del Fargno (if you don't have a 4wd then recommend take the Visso appraoch - longer but the white road is much better).
- Monte Bove circuit from Frontignano (read the notice by Hotel Felycita about the restricted areas before you start - not
  after like us!).
- Foce to Lago di Pilato to Monte Vettore - not a ridge walk but good scramble up side of lago).
- 2 others Gola dell' Infernaccio - make sure you go to st Leonard's Church.
- Cupi to Rifugio Ernesto to Monte La Banditella - take the extension to Santuario di Macereta (don't worry if it is not open, the outside is more impressive than in).

Oh and ice cream - the gelateria on the RHS on road up to Amandola was the best for us. P & J UK SEPTEMBER 2010

We had a fantastic time an unexpectedly beautiful region, well worth exploring and re-exploring, and returning to our lovely apartment. The warm welcome made it perfect, we particulary appreciated the home-made maps and suggestions in the little brown book. Highlights for us: the Gola dell' Infernaccio (be careful - arrive early on peak days, many local people come, so carpark is full, but not many "brave" the walk): the stables at Lago di San Ruffino with great horseriding lessons for our kids (enough English spoken). The surprising proximity of the sea - San Benedetto is fun and exclusively Italian; Ascoli Piceno and the surrounding countryside: spectacular walks and drives (return from San Benedetto > Acquaviva, Offida, Castignano - really superb). Great shame to be going, but, like everyone else, plenty of vows to return R & P & L & S BELGIUM AUGUST 2011
